Unlock cash from your stocks.Set your own rate to lend.

Gimbal is one order book where people holding tokenized stocks meet people holding USDG. A borrower pledges Stock Tokens and names the most they will pay. Lenders each fund a slice at the rate they choose. The contract fixes the overlap for the term, and anyone can watch every fill, repayment and auction land on-chain.

Open-source contracts, bytecode verified on Blockscout, escrow with no administrator.

Mechanics

01

Six steps from a request to a settled loan.

Every Gimbal loan is a small syndicate. A borrower asks for 20,000 USDG against tokenized NVDA; three lenders or thirty fund it, each holding a slice at a rate they picked themselves. Slices never share a loss, so the lender who set the price is the one exposed to it.

Why syndicate

  • Lenders of any size can hold a slice of a loan that would otherwise need an institution.
  • A borrower is filled in full without depending on a single large lender turning up.
  • USDG that has not matched yet sits inside a Morpho USDG vault, earning until it is drawn.
  1. 01Launch window

    Request

The borrower pledges Stock Tokens, states the USDG they want, the top APR they will accept, a term between 7 and 90 days, and a Launch window by which the request has to fill.

  2. 02No gas

    Offer

Lenders sign lend offers off-chain under EIP-712. Signing costs nothing, an offer can be withdrawn whenever the lender likes, and it either targets a single request or stands on the book for a whole tier, much like a limit order.

  3. 03One transaction

    Settle

A single transaction verifies each signature and each lender's eligibility, locks the collateral in escrow, draws USDG from every lender into the borrower's wallet, and mints one slice token for each lender.

  4. 043 day floor

    Accrue

Interest is simple, fixed, and counted per second. The borrower may repay at any moment. The only floor is a 3 day minimum interest period, so a loan closed on its first day still pays three days of interest.

  5. 05Rising rate

    Rollover

Ahead of maturity the borrower can open a rollover auction. The rate starts at the loan's blended APR and climbs toward a cap; lenders who accept fund the new term, the old syndicate is repaid on-chain, and the term ends without a cliff.

  6. 0645 minutes

    Liquidate

Should the health factor drop under 1.0, anyone may open a Dutch auction on the collateral that runs for 45 minutes. Proceeds cover the keeper's share first, then the lenders, and whatever is left over is handed back to the borrower.

Market

02

Two sides to every loan, and a public record for anyone watching.

There is no utilisation curve on Gimbal. A borrower states the most they will pay, each lender states the least they will take, and the contract settles wherever the two overlap.

Borrowers

01

Cash without selling a share

Connect with Robinhood Wallet, or with any EVM wallet, select the Stock Tokens to pledge, and read off how much each LTV tier lets you borrow next to an indicative rate taken from the live book.

  • Fills come in one lender at a time inside your Launch window
  • Margin alerts reach you well before a liquidation is near
  • Top up collateral, repay a portion or open a rollover from a single screen
  • Dividends and splits are handled inside the token itself

Lenders

02

Set the price of your own risk

Sort open requests by APR, term, LTV and collateral. One click signs an offer, with no gas to pay. Standing offers can cover an entire tier, so borrowers always find a live book waiting.

  • Each slice token reports its accrued interest, health factor and maturity
  • Unmatched USDG waits inside a Morpho USDG vault, earning while it waits
  • Opt in to receive the collateral in kind when a loan liquidates
  • Your exposure is confined to your slice and never pooled

Everyone

03

A loan book open to inspection

The Explorer lists every loan with its collateral, the oracle price at origination, the rate, the syndicate, repayment status and any liquidation history, and each entry links to its transaction on Blockscout.

  • How LTV is distributed and where it concentrates by token
  • A bad debt ledger whose target is zero
  • Realised liquidation prices set against the oracle
  • Every parameter change and the reason behind it

Compared with pools

03

Pools are built for the liquid few. Gimbal is built for the long tail.

Morpho vaults, Aave Horizon and Kamino do the right job for collateral that is curated and deep. Stocks with a single name, DEX pools that are thin, weekends when the market is shut and the tokens of private companies do not fit that mould. Those loans need a price set per loan and a term that is fixed.

Gimbal runs beside Morpho on Robinhood Chain and does not try to replace it. Unmatched capital is parked there, and Morpho is the liquidity backstop when a liquidation needs a buyer.

Robinhood Chain

04

Built where a broker puts real stocks on-chain.

No other L2 gives you tokenized equities as plain ERC-20s, Chainlink feeds for every one of them, open deployment and a broker's own customer base in the same place. Gimbal runs here because a lending market needs all four at once.

01

Stock Tokens with no strings attached

AAPL, NVDA, SPY and the rest arrive as ordinary ERC-20s from a listed broker, each one matched by a share held in custody. You hold them yourself, transfers carry no hooks, and ERC-8056 handles dividends and splits within the token.

02

Chainlink prices around the clock, five days a week

Data Feeds drive the health checks, Data Streams price the auctions, a market status flag tells the contract when the session is closed, and the Sequencer Uptime Feed turns an outage into a planned pause instead of a surprise.

03

Settled in USDG

Paxos issues the Global Dollar natively here, the EU regulates it under MiCA, and Robinhood Earn lends it today. A USDe or USDC market can follow later as its own isolated configuration.

04

Quick blocks, tiny fees

A block lands every 250 ms, preconfirmations come back in 100 ms, and a typical transaction costs a tenth of a cent. A fill or a liquidation is final long before the price can move away from it.

05

Smart accounts as standard

ERC-4337 and EIP-7702 are both live on the chain. Lenders sign offers with no gas, a borrower can approve and borrow in a single step, and contract wallets are verified through EIP-1271.

06

Liquidity next door

Uniswap, 1inch and Morpho Blue are already live here. Unmatched lender balances sit in a Morpho vault for USDG and keep earning, and when an auction opens there are arbitrageurs ready to bid.

Telemetry

05

More collateral than debt, marked by oracle, sold by auction.

When a loan on Gimbal goes wrong the contract runs an auction. No court, no collections agent. The only collateral admitted is liquid, on-chain and priced by a live feed, and tiers are set by liquidity and feed quality, not by how famous the ticker is.

No automatic liquidation, default at maturity only, professional lenders, still on the roadmap

Live parameters. Nothing here moves without passing the timelock, and each change is published.

01

One health factor, two lines

Collateral value multiplied by the liquidation LTV, divided by the debt. Under 1.10 the borrower gets a warning and a prompt to add collateral. Under 1.00 any address may open the auction.

02

A Dutch auction, never a market sell

The price opens at oracle plus 3% and slides down to a floor across roughly 45 minutes. Arbitrageurs, authorised participants and the lenders in the loan can all bid.

03

Haircuts that follow the session

With the market closed or the feed stale, every LTV ceiling drops by the tier's haircut and the auction floor cannot go below 85% of the last oracle print. A Friday close is a poor guide to Monday.

04

Grace after a sequencer outage

For one hour after the sequencer recovers, nobody can liquidate, which gives borrowers time to top up. The L1 delayed inbox reaches every function too, so no sequencer can block a repayment.

05

Guards on the oracle

A zero or negative price is refused. Each session has its own staleness bound. A single jump beyond 25% pauses the market until it is cleared, and a corporate action pauses the token until the feed comes back.

06

Price the token in escrow, nothing else

Gimbal values exactly the token it holds, never a wrapper and never an exchange rate derived from one. Edel's wGOOGLx loss in July 2026 came from ignoring that rule.

Precedents

06

Settlement moved on-chain. Credit risk stayed exactly where it was.

Four failures from the previous round of RWA credit, with the money lost and the rule each one taught. Every one of those rules is written into the contracts.

$36MDec 2022

Maple and Orthogonal Trading

Close to 30% of everything Maple had lent. Orthogonal had FTX exposure it kept quiet until the money was gone.

The rule it left us

An unsecured line to a counterparty you cannot audit is a bet, not a loan. On Gimbal the contract holds more collateral than debt on every position.

$18M2023 to 2026

Goldfinch

Tugende, Stratos and Lend East all failed to pay. GFI lost 99.8% of its value and the protocol was put into maintenance mode.

The rule it left us

A chain cannot enforce a covenant, and chasing debt off-chain takes years and returns cents. Gimbal recovers through liquidation, with no lawsuit in the path.

$4M2023

Centrifuge ConsolFreight and Harbor

Too much lent to too few obligors. Redemptions stayed frozen for months and Maker was among those exposed.

The rule it left us

Concentration does the damage. Caps per token and syndicates that share nothing keep one failed loan from locking anyone else's funds.

$403KJul 2026

Edel Finance and wGOOGLx

The feed itself was accurate. The attack pushed a wrapper's exchange rate to 78 times where it belonged, and the protocol trusted it.

The rule it left us

Value the token in your custody and only that token. Gimbal will not price a wrapper or anything derived from one.

Explorer

07

Solvency comes first. Proof anyone can check comes right after.

A market earns trust through what a stranger can confirm about it without asking. Gimbal ships with these eight commitments, and the Explorer is where each one stays in view.

  1. 01

Each state change emits an event

A fill, a repayment, a rollover, an auction opening or settling, a parameter update: all of them land on-chain, and the explorer links every one to its Blockscout transaction.

  2. 02

    The loan book is public

Every open loan with its collateral, LTV, rate, term, the number of lenders in the syndicate, its health factor and the oracle price recorded at origination.

  3. 03

    The risk page is public

Telemetry shows the LTV distribution across the protocol, concentration per token, the ledger of bad debt, and each liquidation with its realised price next to the oracle.

  4. 04

    Oracle and reserve status, live

For each token: the current Chainlink price, session state, staleness and multiplier. Where the issuer publishes a proof of reserve feed, that is shown as well.

  5. 05

    A governance log with reasons

Each timelock proposal and its execution appears in the log together with the rationale behind it, before anything takes effect.

  6. 06

    Open source, bytecode verified

The contracts, the relayer, the indexer and the keeper bots ship under a permissive licence. Builds are reproducible and the deployed bytecode is verified.

  7. 07

    No order flow is hidden

The off-chain book exports in full. Run your own relayer and you will see the same offers as everyone else.

  8. 08

    Nothing held before a match

Funds only move at settlement, against an approval you granted beforehand. Repayment and withdrawal cannot be paused by anyone.

Roadmap

08

Running today, and the four steps after it.

Gimbal opened with cautious LTVs, a visible cap on every token and a risk page anyone can read. Each later milestone unlocks only once the figures from the previous one support it.

On mainnet now

  1. Live01

Tier A and tier B collateral on Robinhood Chain

Stock Tokens from the index, mega-cap and large-cap tiers, borrowed against in USDG, with terms fixed anywhere between 7 and 90 days. Standing offers, targeted offers, rollover auctions, parked capital and the Explorer are all running.

Open to professional lenders and verified borrowers. Exposure is capped per token, and every parameter change passes through the timelock.

  2. Live02

    The risk engine

Haircuts that follow the trading session, Dutch auctions whose floor is bounded while markets are closed, liquidation in kind, a grace period once the sequencer returns, and oracle pricing on the exact token pledged.

Each liquidation, with the price it realised against the oracle, is listed on Telemetry.

Queued, in order

  1. Next03

    Long-tail collateral

Tier C Stock Tokens that carry a live Chainlink feed, opened one market at a time as DEX depth and auction history justify it. After that, negotiated tier D loans, professionals only.

Caps follow the evidence rather than lead it.

  2. Next04

    Senior and junior slices

Optional tranching inside one syndicate: lenders chasing more yield take the first loss, and senior slices are paid out ahead of them.

  3. Next05

    Tokenized treasuries and retail lenders

Treasury and fund-share tokens bridged in as collateral, priced by NAV oracles, plus a secondary market where slice tokens trade, and lending for retail in each jurisdiction that permits it.

  4. Next06

    A governance module

Parameter control passes from the foundation's multisig into a governance module. The timelock stays, the public rationale stays, and repayment stays impossible to pause.

First light

Name a rate, or pledge a stock. The book is open.

Pledge Stock Tokens and draw USDG in a single transaction, or sign a lend offer and let the matching come to you. Verification takes minutes for either side, and each fill lands on Robinhood Chain where anyone can watch it.
